Build Muscle and Lose Fat with Pullups, Pushups, and Bodyweight Squats in 30 Minutes or Less

Here are my top 3 reasons why I stopped going to the gym:

  1. Kept getting distracted by all the beautiful girls walking around.
  2. Either had to wait for equipment, or had to take my dumbbells into some random corner of the gym because the gym was just too crowded.
  3. Didn’t like all the stares coming my way when I was doing my Dumbbell Snatches.


So, I decided to just train at home. For a while, I didn’t have any equipment so I stuck to bodyweight training. I was finally able to perform the kind of routine that I preferred, even though I did not have all the equipment available to me.

At first, my workouts were structured in a very basic manner. In fact, they weren’t as creative as they are now. Here’s a sample of what my initial bodyweight routines looked like:

5 minutes warmup – calisthenics and/or jump roping

Workout:

  • 10 Pullups
  • 25 Pushups
  • 10 Burpees
  • 10 Chinups
  • Rest 1-2 minutes
  • 50 Bodyweight Squats
  • 8 Pullups
  • 20 Feet Elevated Pushups
  • 50 Bodyweight Squats

Finish off with some 3-5 minutes of Jump Roping

I was more or less just doing whatever came to my head. But all my workouts were under 30 minutes, and they worked! Eventually I started developing some more structured workouts. But the point I want to make is that even if you don’t know anything about bodyweight training and how to set up a program, even if you just start working out and do whatever pops in your head, as long as you keep your heart rate up and challenge yourself, you’ll get results.
