Every time I go on vacation, I stop dieting and training properly. Frankly, even though you might have the best bodyweight training with you, it’s tough, especially if you’re visiting family. With my family, they’re always trying to shove food down your throat.
On top of that, I usually go for weddings. So you know how that’s like. Late night get togethers and cultural mixers. A lot of my dad going around and introducing his son from America to everyone.
It’s annoying and tiresome. The last thing you feel like doing is getting up in the morning and working out. So maybe it’s a good idea to get ripped BEFORE you get on vacation. Then you can take a 2-week break, and get back on your diet and training when you come back!
Here are some things you must consider before starting your pre-vacation fitness program:
This is always a factor. You need to think about what equipment you have access to. Because whether you create your own training program or purchase one online, you need to be able to perform the movements easily and safely without any trouble.
Lets assume you purchase a program or follow one from a magazine. If a portion of that program tells you to do movements with a stability ball, but you don’t one, what are you going to do?
Are you going to go ahead and purchase a stability ball? Or are you going to try and find substitutions? Or are you going to get so frustrated and just give up? It’s up to you. But you need to make the decision on how much you’re going to spend on your new fitness plan.

How far away is your vacation? If you have 6-months until your vacation, then you have lots of time. But if you only have 6-weeks, then you workout is going to be super intense! The closer you get to your vacation date, the more intense your workouts should be in order to see maximum results.
In addition, you should also consider how much time you have to train throughout the week, and how much time you’ll actually devote to training. Don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of time. Even if you have just 15 minutes, you can still get an intense workout.
Diet is extremely important. For me, before going to India, I go super strict on my diet. If you’re going to a place that you know is going to be difficult to stay on your diet, it might help to just go super strict.
Often times when you break a super strict diet, you actually end up losing even more fat. This is because when your on a strict diet your body goes into starvation mode and your metabolism starts to slow down.
Once you start eating, it jumps starts your metabolism, allowing you to burn more calories in a short period of time. Over eating is a common method to break through dieting plateau’s, but you can use it as a vacation strategy.
