Review of Tyler Bramlett’s CT-50 – Pros & Cons

Tyler Bramlett A.K.A. Garage Warrior is an exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle coach who has taught people how to look and perform their best for over a decade.

Before becoming a trainer, Tyler himself was 40lbs overweight. A car accident left him a bad knee. After knee surgery, Tyler was unable to perform the exercises that he previously could.

This made Tyler realise that much of what he read in fitness magazines did not work for the average person. It was then that he began using bodyweight exercises to not only rehabilitate himself but to also get into shape.

Although he still uses other forms of training, he understands that typical gym workouts and exercises may not always work for the average person not looking to bear it all on the bodybuilding stage.

What is CT-50?

CT-50 is a fun and challenging workout program based on Progressive Movement Technology. PMT is a fancy way of gradually increasing the difficulty of a movement.

Tyler Bramlett compares PMT to how a baby learns how to walk:

STEP 1 – The baby learns to roll over and push up on his stomach.

STEP 2 – The baby learns to crawl on his elbows and knees.

STEP 3 – The baby learns to crawl on his hands and knees.

STEP 4 – The baby learns to go from seated to standing.

STEP 5 – The baby triumphantly walks a few steps

In this same manner, Tyler’s plan is organized into 5 stages. Each level in the program provides a challenge workout which helps you figure out exactly where to start!

Tyler Bramlett’s program is different because:

  • The workouts can be done nearly anywhere. All you need is your bodyweight and a dumbbell or kettlebell. If you’re traveling, you can use simple objects, such as your carry-on luggage bag, since you don’t need any heavy weights.
  • The program features 50 workouts. If you only need 3 workouts per week, that’s 16-17 weeks of workouts. Remember though, these are progressive workouts – so you’ll be repeating them and only switching to harder variations once you’re strong enough.
  • Uses Progressive Movement Technology to steadily move you through 5 stages. Each stage challenges you in a different way. The fifth stages is the toughest. My recommendation is to start with stage one, even if you feel you’re an advanced trainee.

Pros of CT-50

#1 – The workouts are entirely online. This allows you to easily have everything right there on your computer – from the manuals to the follow-along videos. Instead of waiting for a DVD to come to your doorstep, you have Tyler’s program ready to go the moment you pay for it.

#2 – Only requires 1 hour of training per week. Tyler’s recommendation is 20 minutes, 3 days per week. However, you can modify the plan to suit your needs. If you want to train 5 days per week, CT-50 shows you exactly how to organize your workouts to suit said schedule.

#3 – With 96 different exercises available in your arsenal, the program is injected with enough variety so you’ll never get bored.

#4 – Tyler Bramlett’s plan uses Progressive Motion Technology – as mentioned earlier. Each of the 5 levels features 10 different workouts, for a total of 50 workouts – each building on each other.

Cons of CT-50

If you’re looking for a bodyweight-only program, then CT-50 is not for you. You will need some other equipment. However, you can easily get some dumbbells from a yard sale.

Look on sites like Craigslist as well. There are always people selling used free weights which you can use (make sure you wash these weights when you get them. They may not have been wiping down their equipment after use.)

Who should use CT-50?

If any one of the following describes you, then you should absolutely definitely order CT-50 now:

  • You’re a beginner looking to get started with a fitness plan.
  • You’re in love with Tyler’s previous workout plans
  • You’re someone who loves intense workouts, but are looking for a good recovery component.
  • You’re super busy and need short, 20-minute workouts
  • You feel that your current plan is not working for you.
  • You’re looking for a solid, progressive workout plan.

How will CT-50 help you burn fat?

To explain how CT-50 helps you burn fat, let me share with you some of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in my training:

  1. I trained six times a week, and would have trained 7 times a week if I didn’t have to work on the weekends at my fathers store. I over trained like it was my job.
  2. Doing 500 hindu squats a day. Hindu squats are a great exercise, but just like most things in life, if you abuse the exercise, you’ll screw up your body. My right knee hurts at a certain angle because of obsession with hindu squats.
  3. Measuring my training by how LONG I trained as opposed to how much work I got done. If I wasn’t training for at least an hour at each session, then I wouldn’t stop, no matter how tired I was. Now I know that the shorter the workout, the better.
  4. Not incorporating enough variety into my training. As I mentioned earlier, I did a lot of Hindu Squats. The only other exercise I did was Hindu Pushups. Then mix that up with some jump roping, shadowboxing and running, and you’ve got a great program that lacks variety.
  5. Sometimes I would just workout for the sake of working out. I like to call it “going through the motions.” You’re just exercising with half effort and not really pushing yourself. This can be for a number of reasons – feeling tired or unmotivated, etc

So here’s how CT-50 burns fat:

#1 – Provides you with enough variety so that you’re not training the same muscle groups in the same way over and over again. Each workout is different, so you’ll always be challenged.

#2 – Workouts are progressive, so you’re always pushing yourself just a little bit more, but are never doing dangerous balls-to-the-wall workouts.

#3 – Short, intense workouts help you get the job done. Tyler recommends a lower frequency and time commitment then most workouts

#4 – You’ll always be fresh due to the lower time commitment and variety. You always learn something new, and with 96 unique exercises, you’ll be motivated to keep going.

Just like any other high-intensity program, CT-50 helps boost your metabolic rate and burns more calories. However, it is the carefully-designed game plan that really earns this program a 5-star rating.
